Buy local products
Local products are products that travel few or no food miles before they reach your plate. This limits the emission of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants as much as possible.

That's how you do it
By consuming local products, a lot of polluting transport can be avoided. Not only the number of kilometers traveled is important, but also the nature of the means of transport .
Tips
- Buy your fruit or vegetables directly from the farm or at the local market. This way you can be sure that they are fresh and have not traveled halfway around the world.
- Look in the supermarket for the country of origin of the product. The labels also sometimes make it clear whether you are buying local products. The same applies to regional products: they bear the Streekproduct.be label.
- If possible, choose the product with the fewest food miles.
- Choose (unprocessed) seasonal products.
- Join a food team in your area.
