Maintain your ventilation or air purification system

By regularly maintaining your ventilation or air purification system, you ensure that it continues to function properly.
Maintain your ventilation or air purification system

You tackle the following challenges:

How do I improve indoor air quality

That's how you do it

Ventilation and air purification systems must be maintained and cleaned regularly. Dirt, dust and other impurities cause saturated filters, channels and valves. This reduces the efficiency and capacity of the system. For example, too little fresh air enters and the system blows dirt, moisture, mold and bacteria into the building. A lack of maintenance can also lead to higher energy consumption or noise pollution.

Tip

  • Some things you can do yourself, others are better outsourced to a recognized professional.
  • Maintain and clean the ventilation or air purification system according to the instructions for use. Ask the installer for simple training and clear instructions.
  • Clean the ventilation grilles in windows at least once a year with a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth. You can also clean the valves yourself if you know how.
  • Does your system work with filters? Then check it regularly. Replace filters every six months (or sooner) if they are visibly dirty or if you live on a busy road. Clean the filters at least once in between with the vacuum cleaner.
  • Have the system checked and readjusted every two years by a qualified professional. Also have the air ducts cleaned at least every eight years. It is useful to immediately conclude a maintenance contract when installing your system.
  • In your organization, appoint a person responsible for checking the system. Make sure he or she is aware of the maintenance measures to be taken. Set a reminder in your phone or calendar for cleaning or replacing filters and window grilles.
