Citizen monitoring network

A first information meeting about the citizen monitoring network was held in February 2020. RIVM, GGD and the municipality of Arnhem gave a presentation. Many questions were asked. About 25 participants registered that evening for the construction workshops to build their own particulate matter meter. Due to corona, three workshops with small groups only took place in June. At the moment, about 16 residents are measuring the particulate matter. Clean Air Arnhem would like to expand this group. That is possible if they can start the construction workshops again.

The citizen monitoring network has a helpdesk for the participants. It is used regularly. Installing it at home in particular is not that easy. Clean Air Arnhem also regularly invites participants to an online meeting to discuss the questions together. In due course they will also share the findings with each other. That way they build the community.

In addition to the monitoring network of the municipality of Arnhem, a monitoring network of the Arnhem Air Data project is also active.

Burning stove workshops

In the winter of 2020/2021, more nuisance from wood smoke was experienced in Arnhem. The cause is probably that people spend a lot of time at home and take a walk in the neighborhood more often. Reason enough to give stove burners more explanation and tips to burn better. Clean Air Arnhem organized three workshops that were well attended. Afterwards, participants indicated that they had learned a lot. There is still a lot of profit to be made with good firing, although not firing is of course even better.
